Telecom Agents and The Cloud

Cloud technology was one of the most talked about trends in 2013. Even so, there are businesses questioning whether this technology is the right fit for them. As an agent, this is an opportunity to open up a dialogue, talk to clients about their existing business systems, phone lines, Internet, marketing campaigns, and their strategies for the upcoming year. Introduce new ideas they may not be taking advantage of such as video conferencing. When businesses begin thinking about the Cloud it typically means they are looking to advance their business to the next level and/or they’re trying to save money. All of which a Telecom Agent can assist with.

Agents need to know how a business can advance or update current systems. Sometimes the Cloud fits and other times perhaps not.

The Cloud and the agent:

  • Reach out to carriers for Cloud info, attend workshops, get knowledgeable so you have the answers for your clients.
  • Stay up-to-date on ALL services and products.
  • Cloud capabilities are ever-changing so identify new strategies that fit specific clients and businesses. Some new areas in which Cloud is being integrated into is healthcare and non-profits, for example.
  • There are a lot of benefits with the Cloud, such as flexibility, cost savings, and choices. While businesses may know this already, translating those benefits into something tangible for IT/Managers and business owners to grasp is key. Obviously cost savings and more services available are the top two on the list.
  • Stay in contact with existing clients. Find out what’s holding those customers back from updating.
  • Talk about security services offered for the Cloud. Many NWMAP carriers, such as Integra Telecom, offer these.

Let’s make a commitment to elevate businesses in the New Year!

Happy New Year from your NWMAP Team!

Welcome Erik Buhl To NW MAP Telecom

Erik Buhl is a new addition to the NWMAP team. He’s our designated data center, cloud, managed infrastructure, and disaster recovery Specialist. That’s a mouthful, but he really has an impressive professional competence that simply can’t be ignored once you’ve had the chance to work with him. In addition, he successfully bridges the ominous gap between people and technology/engineering. He starts a conversation and follows through with the strategies necessary to implement the connections. In the past, he has been tied to channel partners either managing relationships for manufacturers in a direct sales role or engineering and configuring cloud services with details ranging from space, power, and cooling requirements to developing strategy and disaster recovery deployments. Most recently he led the Infinity Internet sales team, developing new products with engineering. For these and many other reasons, Erik comes as a highly recommended addition to our team.

Please don’t hesitate to contact Erik.
He looks forward to working on new opportunities or creating incremental business within existing accounts.

IT Spending Down; Great News for Telecommunications

Several articles I’ve run across lately are forecasting a downturn in spending for IT departments. This is largely due to the economic recession of course. Many companies have cut costs where they can during the first couple years of the recession, but now they’re reaching down further with the looming of a slowing global economy.

Technology is what gives a company the edge, competition, and advantage and in most circumstances is not wise to make cuts to such an important area within a company. However, it’s understandable that companies must do what they have to do to merely survive in this atmosphere.

The GOOD NEWS is telecommunications is getting more advanced by the day, month, year…AND costs are getting lower. How is telecommunications lowering costs? The answer is making your money work for you- stripping out the unnecessary technology and making a plan specifically that meets your needs- a perfect fit, NWMAP agents like to call it. Telecom agencies like NWMAP are pros at solutions- they are not trying to sell you what you don’t need. NWMAP is a master agent program in which telecom agents are working for you and even providing free bill reviews, suggestions, and plans that will help you get the most for your dollar.

You can still make communications within your company a priority. Most companies don’t even know they could be saving money and getting updated technology or better services and systems. A lot of companies don’t think to question their telecom providers and they could be carrying around a lot of dead weight with technology they don’t need. On the flip-side many are stuck and believe they have to have outdated products and think the cost of updating will be too much. All wrong!

Telecommunications in The News (Cloud Computing) – May 2012

A lot of recent news in the Telecommunications field lately is focused on Cloud Computing. It’s such an interesting topic because everybody in the telecom field is learning to adapt to this new trend, wondering where they fit in. Do they love it or hate it? What benefits does it offer the telecom provider and the customer.

Some articles reflecting the buzz about cloud computing are centered around how businesses are embracing cloud technology, how it benefits certain types of businesses, it’s advantages and disadvantages, and especially it’s customizable features:

CEO Slip-ups: Have you Ever Made a Big Mistake at Work?

When CEO’s explain or recall their business blunders of the past, they usually state they learned something and at the very least learned to survive what could have been a pure nightmare.  Some business CEO tips for surviving are as follows:

  • try to learn from something bad or else the experience was useless.
  • don’t be afraid to show your true self to the world, it may give you the world.
  • Don’t be afraid of not being liked ALL of the time.
  • be a great observer…try not to jump into things without spending some time observing first.
  • realize you are less likely to notice your own errors so double, no, triple check yourself and your work.
  • There is a quote by famous Director, Paul Weitz…”If you’re worried about being perfect, you’ll never come up with anything good”. Accept and adapt to your imperfections.
  • be knowledgeable about things around you and your business and be prepared for at least two different scenarios for everything you do.
